Ubisoft has confirmed that For Honor‘s patch 1.08 will be released today on PC. The console versions will follow late next week, after certification has been concluded.

The update goes live at 5am PT, 8am ET, 1pm BST, 2pm CEST. The notes are heavily focused on balance changes, including a couple of tweaks for new heroes Centurion, and Shinobi.

Outside of these, there’s a renewed focus on reducing quitting mid-matches by introducing a quit penalty. Players will first receive a warning before quitting the match, and if they continue, a ten-minute matchmaking penalty will be given. This extends to all players in a group when the leader leaves.

Although the new rules and anti-rage quit measurements are included in the patch, they will go in effect “at a later date.” Find all the patch notes below:

“We can do more” microtransactions, says publisher of GTA and Red Dead Redemption

But claims it isn’t out to “grab the last nickel.”

“You can’t give stuff away for free in perpetuity; there’s no business model in that.”

The boss of Take-Two – the company that publishes Grand Theft Auto and the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 – has said it sees the opportunity to add more microtransactions to its games.

According to CEO Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two doesn’t rely as heavily on microtransactions in-game as other publishers do, and although it sees opportunities, it doesn’t intend to flood its games with extra optional charges.

“You can’t give stuff away for free in perpetuity; there’s no business model in that,” he told the Cowen & Company media conference, according to GameSpot.

“But we’re not trying to optimise the monetisation of everything we do to the nth degree. My concern is, if you do that, the consumer knows. They might not even know that they know, but they feel it.”

GTA 5, which has sold-in 80 million copies over four years, and GTA Online, are still big digital earners for Take-Two.

All GTA Online content is released for free, but players can buy optional Shark Cards to spend real money on items and vehicles if they don’t want to earn currency in-game.

“We are convinced that we are probably from an industry view under-monetising on a per-user basis,” added Zelnick

“There is wood to chop because I think we can do more, and we can do more without interfering with our strategy of being the most creative and our ethical approach, which is delighting consumers. We’re not going to grab the last nickel,” he said.

We know Rockstar’s next big game, Red Dead Redemption 2, will have online features, but not how microtransactions will be applied, or whether it will see future paid-for DLC. Eitherway, the game has been pushed out of its original launch this year and into 2018.

Overwatch PTR patch 1.12: Blizzard plugged the memory leak, but many more issues remain

Overwatch’s PTR patch 1.12 may have added new content, but not without a slew of bugs.

overwatch_horizon_lunar_colony_monitoring_image

Yesterday, Blizzard released patch 1.12 for the Overwatch PTR, effectively opening it again for players to test out some big hero changes and the new map, Lunar Colony.

Unfortunately, as with any PTR update, there’s a long list of bugs that affect many players. The most severe of which was a severe memory leak that crashed the game for players, regardless of their game settings. Blizzard has since fixed the problem in a hotfix, but many others remain.

The developer posted a list of all currently known issues, and we have it below:

Horizon Lunar Colony

  • General
  • The sound effects played during Hero Select are muffled and quiet on the Defensive teams Hero Select screen
  • As you walk through the airlocks with Reinhardt in 3rd person, the camera will push in close on your shoulder before returning to its normal position
  • Reinhardt can charge fast enough through the airlock to hit the second door before it fully opens
  • Sprays are not displaying properly on all the glass surfaces of the Hydroponics Lab
  • Players in the air above Point B may see unintended black textures when looking out into the Hydroponics Lab
  • AI
  • AI Bots can pick less than advantageous positions to defend Points A and B from

Gravity modifiers

  • General
  • In Custom Game settings some heroes have a slider for Projectile Gravity even though they do not have any projectile weapons

Lockout/Elimination

  • General
  • The End of Round flow for Elimination matches will still show a kill skull when a round ended via capture point, not death
  • When entering a match on Castillo the voice says “Traveling to Dorado”
  • On Elimination versions of existing maps, the blue glow of health packs is still visible in the locations they used to be
  • Custom games
  • The Game Browser does not provide any indication that AI Bots will not function in Elimination and CTF game modes

Additional issues

  • General
  • If a player is invited to a game that has all player and spectating slots full, they do not receive an error that they cannot join the game
  • We’re investigating significant performance issues reported by many users
  • The Overwatch client may crash when interacting with players who have certain uncommon letters in their battle tag
  • Reaper hero information has outdated passive
  • Custom server browser
  • The cooldown cannot be modified for Secondary Fire abilities
  • You are unable to invite players to a Custom Game with 12 available Spectator slots when all the Player slots are full
  • Disabling Primary fire for D.Va turns off the mechs Fusion Cannons, and her Pistol
  • The ammo counter displayed on some hero weapons may not function correctly if the Ammunition Clip Size Scalar is modified
  • Ultimates will re-enable weapons that have their primary fire disabled for the duration of the Ultimate
