Best iPhone Game Updates: 'Stranger Things: The Game', 'Asphalt 8', 'Marvel Future Fight', 'Doomsday Clicker', and More

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It's time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. With Hallowe'en not more than a handful of hours away, it's only natural that the bulk of the featured updates are Hallowe'en related. There are a couple of other interesting updates in the mix just to keep you guessing, though. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let's dig in!

Dashy Crashy

Dashy Crashy, Free Dashy Crashy is taking a break from its arcade homages to pay tribute to Hallowe'en instead. In the Hallowe'en event, you play as a ghost. You need to collect 1031 candies before Thursday if you want to keep the ghost for free. If you'd prefer to play the hunter than the hunted, you can buy the Ghost Hunter vehicle in the shop right now. It's a somewhat familiar-looking hearse. Eh, you'll know it when you see it. The arcade homages will pick up again in the next update.

Pinball Arcade Plus

Pinball Arcade Plus, $0.99 The Pinball Arcade has a timely addition with its latest update. Stern's 2016 Ghostbusters table has been lovingly rendered and made available to purchase as IAP. This is different from the stand-alone Ghostbusters pinball released by Farsight a couple of years back. It's also more expensive than usual, going for $9.99. The reason for that is likely down to a combination of licensing costs (music, actor likenesses, voice clips) and the fact that the real table only released last year and is still in circulation. With that in mind, buying a digital version of the table for the cost of 10 plays isn't too shabby.

Asphalt 8: Airborne

Asphalt 8: Airborne, Free Okay, time for a little break from the Hallowe'en business. Asphalt 8's latest version adds a new locatio set in Munich, with a variety of events taking place there. There are also some new unique Moto Blitz seasons, some new championships, and a bunch of new vehicles including the McLaren 650S GT3, the Kawasaki Z800, and more. Plus, five new special events you can challenge to try and win some prizes.

Super Phantom Cat 2

Super Phantom Cat 2, Free Okay, back to the Hallowe'en stuff. Super Phantom Cat 2 got a new Hallowe'en Theme World in its newest update, along with a new hero named Rockskull. There are five new levels to play that include pumpkin wagons, monsters, ghosts, bats, and all that good horror stuff. Probably cute versions of said horror things, but I haven't checked or anything. I'm just guessing because, like, look at the cat. Look at it. Does that look like a cat that will go up against horrifying objects? No.

Disney Magic Kingdoms

Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free Oh, you're probably expecting something Hallowe'en related for this update, but you would be mistaken, friend. Instead, we're heading down the rabbit hole to the world of Wonderland. You can collect characters from Alice in Wonderland including Alice, the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and the March Hare. There are also decorations, attractions, and concessions to fit the theme. Can you defeat the Queen of Hearts? Would you bet your head on it?

Rayman Adventures

Rayman Adventures, Free Holy smokes, what did they do to Rayman? Is he... is he okay? Well, uh. I'm going to try to move on here. There's apparently a new challenge called the Hell-O-Wheel challenge? There are some new spooky families, some wheel you can spin, some cursed bones to collect which you can exchange for a costume. I'm actually really confused by these update notes, friends. None of this makes sense to me. I'm just going to go on to the next game and try to forget about Nightmare Rayman.

Stranger Things: The Game

Stranger Things: The Game, Free I still don't understand how this game exists. It's totally free, and it really doesn't need to be. Oh well. In case you didn't think it was already a great deal, here's a free update that adds even more stuff. There's a new playable character in the arcade, a new Hawkins High School dungeon, some new quests, and some new collectibles. That's good enough to earn a coveted UMMSotW award. Um, 1980s reference! Okay, next!

MARVEL Future Fight

MARVEL Future Fight, Free Yes! Thor Ragnarok! Oh friends, you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to this movie. And unlike most Marvel movies, we here in Japan don't have to wait an extra two months to see it. Um, yes, Future Fight. As you might expect, this update is mostly focused on the new movie, with new characters Skurge, Heimdall, and Valkyrie added to the game along with some movie-based costumes for Thor, Hulk, Loki, and Hela. Naturally, there are some new Cinematic Battles that let you re-enact some of the big battles from the flick. I say thee YAY.

Doomsday Clicker

Doomsday Clicker, Free With a title like Doomsday Clicker, you would expect the game to do some kind of Hallowe'en update. Your expectations would be met, then, because the game just got an update that brought a Hallowe'en event along with some iOS 11 compatibility improvements. Enjoy tap, tap, tapping away those unsightly zombies with this overlapping apocalypse scenario. Yeesh, when do we get a nice little chocolate chip cookie and tea update? I think these characters could use a little break for once.

That about wraps it up for last week's significant updates. I'm sure I've missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I'll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
