Middle-earth: Shadow of War is the latest third-party game to join Microsoft’s Play Anywhere programme.
After having been leaked earlier that day, Warner Bros. officially announced Middle-earth: Shadow of War yesterday. The reveal brought us more information than is typical with these early announcements, too, complete with a release date and pre-order details.
But there was one thing that got lost in the noise: Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
This means that when you buy the game on either Xbox One or Windows 10, you’ll automatically have access to it on the other platform. Save files and achievements also carry over between the two, which is a nice bonus.
This only applies to digital copies, however, so Xbox One retail discs will not offer the same bonus.
Shadow of War follows Resident Evil 7 as the other big, non-Microsoft-published title to take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere.
