Watch some early-game demons get their faces smashed on Nintendo’s machine.
Doom is hitting the Nintendo Switch this week, and we’ve been toying around with it and getting a feel for how it runs on Nintendo’s impressive little portable console. The answer is that it works pretty damn well, something we explain in detail in our Doom for Switch review.
Don’t just take our word for it – here’s a video of the opening of the game and the first few encounters.
As a quick tip, we advise you crank up the stick sensitivity as we do halfway through the video – for some reason it’s super low by default to the point where it makes the game feel sluggish and harder as a result.
But, yes – as the above video shows it runs pretty well, maintaining a decent frame rate most of the time and sticking close to its 30fps target for the most part. There are occasional drops, however. You can find out more on our take on the game in our full-length review, but the headline, as the video shows, is that it runs pretty damn well. It’ll be interesting to see how Skyrim and Wolfenstein 2 turn out too.
