'57° North', the AR Game that Uses the Merge Cube, Is Out Now

A few days ago, we wrote about 57° North [$2.99], an adventure game that utilizes the Merge Cube, and new AR peripheral, to tell the story about two cousins stranded on a remote island. 57° North has now released for iOS and Android, and you can check it out even if you don't have the Merge Cube, although it's much more interesting if you do have that peripheral. A few words about the Merge Cube, first. This "holographic object," as it's been described, is a very cheap little device (just a bit over $10) that allows players to merge the physical and the digital as well as interact with it in ways that make the gaming experience richer. As you can see in the trailer, the Merge Cube becomes an object that helps you make your narrative choices in an immersive way.

The game itself is about two cousins who are shipwrecked on a remote Alaskan island, and they have to survive and escape, on the way discovering the secret of the island. The story isn't too long (just over an hour), but there are different outcomes, so you will probably come back to the game a few times. And the art is really nice. Check out 57° North, with or without the Merge Cube, out now on iOS and Android.
