Sir Daniel returns in 4K in MediEvil Remaster for PlayStation 4

It’s not a new MediEvil, but it’s better than nothing.

Sony announced during PlayStation Experience 2017 yesterday that a MediEvil Remaster is heading to PlayStation 4.

According to Sony, the remaster is a “proper PS4-grade resurrection” of the original MediEvil, which will soon be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Developed by SCE Cambridge Studio, which became Guerrilla Cambridge before its closure in 2017, MediEvil is an action-adventure hack and slash was released in 1998 for the original PlayStation. The sequel, MediEvil 2,followed in 2000.

In 2005, a re-imagining of MediEvil titled MediEvil: Resurrection was release for PSP and in 2007, the original game was made available through PlayStation Network as a PSOne title for PS3.

If you’re not familiar with the MediEvil series, it stars Sir Daniel Fortesque who has been resurrected unwittingly by the evil sorcerer Zarok. The evil-doer had cast a spell over the kingdom of Gallowmere to awaken his undead army in order to steal souls from the living.

In the process, Sir Daniel arose from 100 years of slumber, and uses the opportunity to defeat Zarok once and for all.

MediEvil was a super fun game, and has remained a fan-favorite since its release.

A firm release date wasn’t provided by Sony, but with the game’s anniversary coming in 2018, we hope to hear more on the remaster soon. Pity there was nothing shown in the teaser trailer. We’ll just have to wait.

Hopefully, this means a MediEvil 3 is on the horizon. Once can hope Guerrilla Games can get on that soon.
