The hotly anticipated The Last of Us Part 2 is around “50 to 60%” done according to the game’s director Neil Druckmann.
The news comes by way of a panel at last weekend’s PlayStation Experience featuring Druckmann, writer Halley Gross and stars Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, Ian Alexander, Victoria Grace and Laura Bailey.
The hour-long panel was scant on concrete details, but there were a few tidbits to take away.
Following a live musical performance from Johnson and Baker, Druckmann was quick to set the tone for proceedings.
“The thing about songs is that you can take them literally, or they’re a metaphor for something else. And just like everything else we’re putting out there, we’re not going to say a whole lot about that song,” he said.
We did learn some things however. Druckmann went on to tease that a character in the game was pregnant, fueling the fire of a popular fan theory where one of The Last of Us’ protagonists, Ellie, is with child.
“After the first day, Halley goes home and says to her husband, ‘I think I got someone pregnant,’” he said.
Druckmann also went on to confirm another fan theory – that a lot of The Last of Us Part 2 takes place in Seattle.
Towards the end of the panel, Druckmann moved on to discussing the game’s progress.
“We’ve handed off a bunch of levels, there’s a bunch of stuff being worked on,” he said.
“We’re like 50 to 60% done.”
Finally, Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog will be showing gameplay from The Last of Us Part 2 at E3 2018.
The full panel is embedded below if you’d like to give it a watch – even if just for the song at the start.
