These four Dawn of War 3 tilesets look impressive, and there’s a story behind each one.
Dawn of War 3 developer Relic has released a new showcase that gives us a look at four of the main environments in the game, and the intent behind each of their designs.
The video is narrated by art director Matt Kuzminski and lead environment artist Tristan Brett and it takes us through Ultima, Cage World, Starfort, and Acheron.
The goal with Cyprus Ultima was to create sort of a future-medieval world, with a particular style of architecture. Cage World, on the other hand, was made to look as alien as possible, with a constantly shifting landscape and very clean designs.
Starfort is kind of the authentic Space Marine environment, with massive cathedrals and fort weapons, and a grimdark look fit for an imperium station. Finally, Acheron is built as a nature-infested world of snow and lava where everything is seemingly out to get you.
Dawn of War 3 is out this year on PC.
