Mass Effect: Andromeda will rely on p2p for its multiplayer mode.
BioWare has confirmed that Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s multiplayer co-op mode will use peer-to-peer to connect players together, rather than dedicated servers.
The news was shared by game producer Fernando Melo on Twitter, alongside a shot of the character selection screen, which you can see above.

This follows the announcement from earlier this week that the game’s multiplayer beta has been cancelled. Instead, the studio is bringing a playable multiplayer build to PAX.
The choice of peer-to-peer is not totally surprising. After all, Mass Effect 3 used this tech, and with the mode having more emphasis on PvE, a good p2p solution can work well.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is out March 21 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
