The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – how to acquire classic armor sets using amiibo

We’ve shown you how to acquire the Dark Link costume from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Breath of the Wild, now, here’s a video showing you how to grab more classic Link costumes. What’s shown in the video could be considered spoilers by some, so know that going in.

AGIAN: if you want to remain unsullied regarding all things The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, don’t watch the video below or read any further.

In the video from Arekkz, he shows how to use amiibo to acquire outfits from Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, the Classic Link costume and Twilight Princess in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Each amiibo can be used once per day, and along with useful items, the Link amiibo will drop a chest which can contain one of three pieces of armor or weapons. Most of the armor drops come from the 30th Anniversary Zelda series.

The armor items aren’t a guaranteed drop each time you use an amiibo, but Arekkz said he was able to gather items rather quickly. Duplicates are also possible, when something you already have drops, just sell the item in-game.

Here’s the armor set each of the supported amiibo will drop in the game:

  • 30th Anniversary – The Legend of Zelda: Classic Link
  • 30th Anniversary – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: respective armor
  • Super Smash Bros. 4 Toon Link or 30th Anniversary – The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker: respective armor
  • Super Smash Bros. 4 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: respective armor

Since the game is so vast, Arekkz isn’t sure whether these armor pieces can be acquired in another manner, but if that is indeed the case, we’ll let you know.

Once more thing: there’s a chance that Epona will spawn instead of chest when scanning the Twilight Princess amiibo. She can then be registered at a nearby stable and will always be waiting for you .

If you are playing the game and need some help, you should give our guide the once over.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out today on both Wii U and Switch.
