Destiny 2 on PC will skip Steam and use Blizzard’s service instead

Destiny 2 players on PC will have to install the Blizzard launcher if they wish to play the game.

Announced today during the Destiny 2 livestream, Activision-Blizzard will skip using Steam for the PC version, as it has opted to make use of its service formerly known as Battle.net instead.

It makes sense when you think about it, even though Activision offers it PC games on Steam, it’s likely more convenient to use its own service – not to mention Destiny is all about the server-side progression.

A pre-recorded message from Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime announced the news.

We’ll update this post as more information is made available, as the stream is still going. So, consider this post a work-in-progress.

Destiny 2 releases September 8 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
