Monster Hunter XX Switch version sounds like a good deal for new comers and existing owners on 3DS.
Capcom announced last week that the first ever Monster Hunter game for the Nintendo Switch would be a re-release of Monster Hunter XX.
Following the reveal at the Monster Hunter Championship 2017, we now know a lot more about what this version will bring. The biggest news for players who already invested hours into the 3DS version is that their save files will transfer over to the Switch version.
This also works the other way around, meaning you can play the 3DS version on the go, and return home to continue where you left off on the Switch. Both consoles can also play together online.
In handheld mode, the Switch version will render at 720p, vs. 1080p when docked. Don’t expect upgraded assets compared to the 3DS version, however, and this is more of a re-release with light improvements.

It’s worth stressing that the Switch version has only been announced for Japan, with no details of a Western release just yet. It’s out August 25 in Japan, but you can easily play it in the West by creating a Japanese account, seeing as the Switch is region-free.
Don’t rule out an announcement for the West in the next few months, though.
