G2A tries to smooth things over with new update that makes sellers reveal their name and address

G2A says this is the “first step” in making the website better.

G2A.com is a notoriously shady website that has come under fire in the past for selling keys that don’t work, or that have come from undisclosed suppliers.

They’ve landed themselves in hot water with both Riot and Gearbox, and at the Reboot conference in Croatia in April, Eurogamer reported on the roasting that G2A senior account manager Mario Mirek took in a Q&A with developers. Suffice to say they were not happy with his answers and the session did nothing to help the company’s reputation.

In a bid to turn things around, G2A has announced some “exciting changes” that will force sellers to disclose their names and addresses, and they’ll be implementing automatic geolocation to identify the location of buyers “to streamline its marketplace,” and VAT will now be included in the full price of products.

“These changes are only the first step in further simplifying and improving the shopping and selling experience on G2A Marketplace,” apparently, and will come into effect on July 1.

Do you think this is too little, too late? Or are you glad to see them making a step in the right direction? Chime in below.
