Destiny 2 datamining has begun. Thanks to the release of the PC version, we now have a few hints about where the story could go in the future.
This leak mostly concerns audio files in Destiny 2, over 26,000 of them. The voice lines make references to locations seen in Destiny 1, in-game events yet to be confirmed for Destiny 2, and some hints about future DLCs.
The voice lines make references to Ganymede and The Myriad, locations we’ve not heard off before. Mercury is talked about in some of these, which we already know is going to be where the first DLC takes us. Shiro-4 is said to be on Mercury, and this will somehow tie into the story of Osiris – who is the subject of the DLC.
According to some of the voice lines, Osiris will return to the Tower at some point, perhaps at the end of the DLC’s campaign. Many of Destiny 1’s planets and patrol locations, such as Venus, Mars, Dreadnaught, Old Russia, and even the Prison of Elders are also brought up. The Red Legion is mentioned alongside them, so there’s the suggestion that it has also subjugated these regions.
Interestingly, Destiny 1 social spaces – such as the Reef – are also among these locations, which could indicate that we may one day return there. Destiny 1 events like Festival of the Lost, and Crimson Days are mentioned, meaning they could return. We already know that there won’t be a Festival of the Lost this year, though.
Even more interesting are the hints about the second DLC for Destiny 2, which we know has something to do with the Warmind Rasputin. Phobos seems to be the possible location for this add-on, judging from the way it was mentioned as a patrol location. Lord Saladin has several lines about the Warmind, indicating that he may be our handler when the time comes.
All of these details were dug up by Reddit user TheEcumene, who helpfully also compiled all of them into one handy download with different folders for each subject. It’s worth noting that these may not necessarily point to future DLCs, as it could just be references to content scrapped during development. Only time will tell how much of what’s talked about here will come to the game.
