Destiny 2 brings back the Sad Boys, the Decadent Counter-Revolutionaries and the Violent Nascar Fans. What? You don’t call them that?
Faction Rally arrives in Destiny 2 next week and Bungie has spilled details of what this means.
Basically, everyone can pledge allegiance to one of the three factions – Dead Orbit, Future War Cult or New Monarchy – and will then earn reputation tokens for that faction as they get on with their regular Destiny 2 activities.
As with most vendors in Destiny 2, earning enough faction tokens unlocks Legendary engrams stocked with a selection of goodies specific to that vendor. As our Destiny 2 guide notes, these engrams are a great way to level up and get more Power fast, so it’s nice to have another source of loot – as well as some different-looking sets of gear.
During a Faction Rally, though, there’s a bit more at stake. Each of the factions has a very fancy weapon it will offer for sale if it happens to gain the most support of all three over the course of the event. Those Destiny 2 players who pledge themselves to the winning faction will be able to purchase the weapon for 1,000 Glimmer; everyone else is looking at 50,000 Glimmer.
Who should you pledge to? Depends what you want to get, I suppose; Dead Orbit has a scout rifle, New Monarchy has a sidearm, and Future War Cult has a pulse rifle. I’m keen to find out more about the armour sets each faction has, as I dislike the look of the heavy Hunter sets in general – so that’s a consideration, too.
Destiny 2’s first Faction Rally begins and ends at 2:00am PT September 26 and runs through 2:00am PT on October 3. Take a look at each faction’s goodies, plus the weapons they’re offering, below.
As a reminder, Dead Orbit believes humanity should abandon Earth, and fancies black, white, grey and silver shaders. New Monarchy thinks the answer to humanity’s problems is to elect a single leader, and likes red, white and gold. Future War Cult is pretty convinced apocalyptic conflict is inbound so we should all fight all the time to prepare for it, and likes red, blue, and yellow.
I’ve always been a Dead Orbit fan despite their gloomy outlook, but those New Monarchy shaders look pretty fancy. Gold gloss? Yes please.
