Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It's time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Well friends, I'm pretty sick today. I guess the word must have gotten out to the game developers, because this is a pretty light week. I've found a handful of goodies for your reading pleasure anyway. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let's dig in!
Dashy Crashy, Free Most of the recent updates for Dashy Crashy have been celebrating SEGA racing games apart from a brief foray into Namco's Ridge Racer. The latest update pays homage to the best-selling racing series of all-time. Yes, it's Mario Kart. But minus Mario, kind of like those Garfield strips without Garfield. Since this game has no characters to drive the karts, emojis take the wheel for some item-crashing, kart-dashing action. Grab 777 items before Thursday and you can keep the karts. Sounds like a good deal!
Dan The Man, Free Dan the Man is here to celebrate Hallowe'en because really, why not? What, you're too good for Hallowe'en? Maybe you could learn a thing or two from Dan, who is doing things the right way with a whole new stage called the Fright Zone. Enjoy it while wearing the new Imp costume if that's your style. Spooky! I guess. Look, there are skeletons. That's your insides, but they wear them on the outsides? I'm kind of disturbed that you aren't more disturbed, frankly.
The Sandbox Evolution, Free More weenies for the Hallowe'enies! I don't even have to make sense, that's the magic and wonder of Update M- er, Best iPhone Updates! You know what else doesn't have to make sense? The Sandbox Evolution. Pick up the new update and get playing around with some wild Hallowe'en elements like a necromancer, a headless horseman, a vampire, and more. There are more than 16 scary or otherwise Hallowe'en-themed elements in all. Naturally, there are also some season-appropriate decorations, backgrounds, and more. Make your finest horror and share it with other players using the Online Gallery. Boo!
Iron Maiden: Legacy, Free This is a thing. It is a thing I wasn't really aware of, but I must stress that fact does not make this any less of a thing that exists. Anyhow, Iron Maiden Legacy has an update. The game now features a Witch Doctor and some Mayan Priestesses. There are also some new missions and a reward character, the Crimson Pharaoh Dog. Inventory limits have been increased, bugs have been fixed, and I'm no closer to figuring out what any of this has to do with Iron Maiden.
Street Fighter IV CE, $1.99 Yes, I rather like this update. First of all, you've got three new characters joining the roster. Elena (originally from Street Fighter 3), Juri (from Street Fighter 4), and Rose (from Street Fighter Alpha) are ready to fight. Juri may be a little too ready, if you want the truth. The other neat thing in this update is that Capcom has found a satisfactory way to deal with rage quitters. Now if you're whupping someone and they exit out, the computer AI will take over to finish the fight. This update also has some balance adjustments, matchmaking tweaks, bug fixes, and performance improvements. That's good enough for this week's coveted UMMSotW award. Enjoy!
Deemo, $1.99 Our dear friends at Rayark have been cleaning up with Switch ports lately, but they haven't forgotten about their mobile fans. This latest update to Deemo adds four new free songs for everyone to enjoy, and four new song packs for those who are willing to pay a little money. While they were at it, Rayark also made some improvements to the UI and tweaked the overall gameplay. While the Switch versions of Rayark's games are awesome, you can't go wrong with the original mobile versions, either.
Dungeons of Chaos REVAMPED ED., $5.99 While I haven't included Dungeons of Chaos in these round-ups in a while, I assure you that it has been getting tons of updates. Each one only adds a little, but they add up to a lot. What a developer! The most recent version includes new monster encounters in the Watery Cave, and it hides the Dungeon Run button when you're in the mini-map view. Other recent updates have made tons of little tweaks to various bits of the game. I'd recommend checking out the update log for the game even if only to marvel at how busy this developer is.
SubaraCity, Free This fun twist on Triple Town was also released on the Nintendo 3DS earlier this year. The mobile version has sort of sat since then, but the developer has swung back around for another update. This one adds iOS 11 comapatibility, a new mayor you can add, streamlined Game Center leaderboards, and the choice of two types of background music. Wonderful!
That about wraps it up for last week's significant updates. I'm sure I've missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I'll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
