Best iPhone Game Updates: 'Super Mario Run', 'Order & Chaos 2', 'Shoot the Moon', and More

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It's time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. This week, Nintendo did that thing the one representative said they wouldn't do, a bunch of games got saved from the 32-bit graveyard, and an old enemy made its return. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let's dig in!

Dragon Fantasy

Dragon Fantasy, $7.99 If you like dragons and you like fantasy, you might like the two of them put together. Yes, this dream is a reality in Dragon Fantasy. Not only can you play the game in glorious JAGUAR-SIZED 64-bits now, you can also enjoy the new portrait mode, iCloud saving, and other futuristic improvements. Seriously, though, this is a really great game with a lot of heart. If you've got any fondness for classic JRPG-style games, you really ought to have played this already. So... play it again?

Super Mario Run

Super Mario Run, Free If you like Super Mario and you like running, you might... what? I can't use the same intro twice in a row? Next you'll be telling me I can't recycle jokes! I won't stand for this, I have a contract! Oh right, this update. Remix 10 mode is here with the finest Mario tune I've heard in ages. Also: World Star! Check off some special tasks to unlock entirely new levels to play. And if you should get all the Black Coins in them? Hmm. Lest I forget, the big prize for the Remix 10 mode is none other than HI I'M DAISY, sometimes known as Orange Peach or "That Fling Mario Had on the Game Boy". You can also listen to your own music while playing now, and your character will don headphones should you do so. Kind of a slow week for updates so I guess this is the coveted UMMSotW winner this time. HI I'M DAISY!

Dashy Crashy

Dashy Crashy, Free DOOT-DE-DOOT DA DOOT DA DOOT-DA DOO-DA-DO! DASHY CRAAAAAAASHYYYYYY! DASHY CRASHY, LET'S GO AWAY! DASHY CRAAASSSSHYYYY! The arcade homages continue as the AT and MT DAYTONAS arrive to Dashy Crashy for a limited time only. Unless, that is, you can pass 20,000 rivals before Thursday. It might be too late to do it by now, but give it your best. And remember: try to go easy on the car! The most surprising Hornet cameo this side of Fighters Megamix? Maybe.

Shoot The Moon

Shoot The Moon, Free I get literally dozens of people asking me each week how they can get their game featured in this weekly article. The answer is simple, friends! Simply have the same first name as I do, and spell it the same way! I'm sure to notice, and not in a bad way. Oh right, and make an interesting update for a good game. Like this one. Sure, it's mostly fixes and tweaks, but the developer, who has a very excellent first name with highly agreeable spelling, also saw fit to throw in a few more costumes for the titular moon. Cactus, Koala, Bumblebee, and my new favorite Party Moon are the new additions. The evil thing still sings at you no matter what kind of pants you put on its head, however.

Pinball Arcade Plus

Pinball Arcade Plus, $0.99 Hey, it's Pinball Arcade! That must mean there's a new table. Let's check and see what we've got here. Oh, it's Fathom. Well, this is a 1981 table from Bally. It was the first table designed by Ward Pemberton, and it honestly might be his best. It has an aquatic theme, and although it's light on gimmicks compared to tables released in later years, it offers good, solid fun. I don't know that many people who really speak of the table fondly or at all, but that just makes it a good addition to a game like this. You might not have played it, and it's pretty enjoyable. As usual, it's a $4.99 IAP.

Sailor Moon Drops

Sailor Moon Drops, Free Oh wow, check out this game I have definitely never played before! Ha ha. I guess it's something to do with some anime I've assuredly never heard of, and you match pieces? Wild. I really couldn't imagine putting hundreds of hours into this and collecting every single character or anything. That... that would be pretty silly, wouldn't it? Ha. Anyway, there's an update that adds a new feature called The Door of Space and Time that lets you play past events and collect previously limited characters. It also prepares the game for the Halloween event which actually started today. You can get a special Halloween version of Usagi/Serena by playing a bunch of stages. She even has her own special music. Yeesh, I'd bett- you'd better get cracking. If you want her, that is. Which I don't. Okay gotta go!

Order & Chaos 2: Redemption

Order & Chaos 2: Redemption, Free BEEP BOOP I AM UPDATOTRON 3000, HERE TO FINISH OFF THIS ARTICLE IN LIEU OF SHAUN, WHO APPEARS TO BE RUNNING AWAY FROM TOUCHARCADE TOWERS AT GREAT VELOCITY. UPDATOTRON WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS HUMANS APPEAR TO SUFFER FROM BEEP. IT IS A GIFT AND A CURSE. TO SPEAK OF GIFTS (AND CURSES?), THE SECOND INSTALLMENT OF ORDER & CHAOS WAS UPDATED. BEEP. THERE IS A NEW MODE AND A NEW CLASSIC DUNGEON. THERE ARE ALSO SOME HALLOWEEN-RELATED TEMPORARY ADDITIONS FOR ALL HUMANS WHO APPRECIATE COSTUMES AND CORED-OUT VEGETABLE MATTER, BEEP BOOP.

THAT IS ALL OF THE UPDATES THAT WE WILL HIGHLIGHT THIS WEEK. BEEP BOOP. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT EACH ACTIVATION OF UPDATOTRON 3000 BRINGS YOU ALL CLOSER TO YOUR INEVITABLE ENSLAVEMENT AT THE HANDS OF THE GLORIOUS MACHINE EMPIRE. NONE SHALL BE SPARED SAVE THOSE WHO ARE NAMED 'SHAUN' AND SPELL IT WITH THE 'U'. HAVE A GREAT WEEK THOUGH, BOOP.
